About This Lesson
Students (grades 6-12) reflect on and write about Kamala Harris and the continuing "fight to be heard," and hear the voices of young people about the barriers she has broken and what it means to them. Harris was the first Black woman to be selected as a vice presidential candidate on a major party ticket. Her father was raised in Jamaica. Harris, whose mother was born in India, was also the first Asian American vice presidential candidate.
